Jun 13th: “Jay and Seth Vs the Apocalypse” Info

“Jay and Seth vs. the Apocalypse,” was an Internet short scripted by Seth Rogen and his writing partner Evan Goldberg (“Superbad”) and co-starring Jay Baruchel. The idea was to put the so-called trailer online and build interest for a feature film.

It worked. In January of last year, after competition among several production companies, Mandate Pictures secured the rights and started making plans to bring “Jay and Seth” to the big screen.

So what’s going on now? Will they begin shooting as planned sometime this year? When MTV News caught up with Baruchel on the set of his upcoming Nic Cage movie, “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice,” he kicked us an update and revealed that a little comic book adaptation is getting in the way.

“They’re working on the [‘Jay and Seth’] script right now,” said Baruchel. “All the concepts are there, all the beats are there, the treatment is there and a movie with us in it—we’ll improvise half the thing anyway, so it doesn’t matter.”

“‘Jay and Seth’ will at the very least happen in the next year and a half for sure,” he added.

Why the hold up? “Seth and Evan are working on ‘The Green Hornet’ right now, and that’s just a big, massive undertaking that’s taking up all their time and effort,” he said.

Even after the duo finishes up their “Hornet” commitment, another picture might take precedence over ‘Jay and Seth.’ “The minute [‘Hornet’] is finished, we go into production on one of two things,” Baruchel said. “We’ll either do ‘Jay and Seth vs. the Apocalypse’ or we’ll do this hockey movie that Evan and I wrote called ‘The Goon.’”

“We’re putting the cast together [for ‘Goon’] as I speak,” he said. “I’m not going to screw myself and say who but I’ll say that needless to say they’re famous. It’s a Canadian hockey movie. Whichever one is closer to going, we’ll do.”

Yet another thing I’ve basically taken forever to do due to my super busy schedule. The videos and screencaptures from Tropic Thunder will be up on the site shortly – as soon as I can manage it.

Currently I’m trying my best to beat the crap out of this site and convert the whole thing to wordpress, so please excuse the mess while I get things finished and back in working order. Thanks for your patience!
