Big thanks to Tina for tipping us off on this story! According to ShowBizCafe.com, Jay – who has four highly anticipated films coming out – may retire from acting after filming Notre Dame de Grace. Here’s some of what was published:
He then went on to share with me EXCLUSIVELY, that he wants to quit acting altogether. “You know, I don’t wake up with that feeling of love for acting, for this business. I really just do it to pay my mom’s bills and take care of her.” With his beard in tow and the disappointed look, I had to ask if he was pulling a Joaquin Phoenix here. He laughed and scoffed at the notion. He says that it was embarrassing to see that and assured me it was nothing of the sort. We finally concluded with a new movie he’s currently filming called ‘Notre Dame de Grace’ which might be his last project.
Remember, take anything you read with a grain of salt until Jay or his people confirm it. We certainly hope he doesn’t quit, but we hope that his fans will respect his decision should he choose to retire.
I’m a bit stoked at all the press Jay’s been getting recently over his newest projects! True most of it is directed at Sorceror’s Apprentice, but this time Jay talks to io9.com about Jay and Seth Vs. The Apocalypse:
“Seth and I have a lot of things going on, so we just got to figure out a time in the year where it makes sense for us to carve out at least six months to do it,” he said. “We’ve been working on it and writing it for the past two years. There’s a studio that wants to make it, so everybody wants to do it. It’s just a matter of timing. I’d say that we at least start making the thing in some capacity by the end of this year.”
He also talked a little bit about Teresa Palmer and her possible role in Mad Max:
I know, that just got taken everywhere. Listen, Teresa is one of my best friends and I was just real proud of her and gushing, bragging [that] someone I know who is in a movie as cool as that. Because Road Warrior is one of the first movies my mother ever showed me as a kid. So I have said too much already. I’ll leave it to Teresa’s representation to confirm or deny anything. I’ve seen that thing reprinted in a bunch of languages. So, no I’ve already said too much.
